Previous Workshops

I've held numerous workshops over the years in Scottsdale and the Bay Area. Focused on learning camera and software techniques, my class sizes are small enough to ensure everyone gets the 1:1 attention they need.

Below are some of the workshops I've held to give you a flavor of the comfortable learning environment you'll experience.

Kelby World Wide Photowalk - Scottsdale

We had a great time as we walked Old Town Scottsdale and talked all about photography.

Lightroom - Photoshop Class

In this class, we went over the more advanced retouching tools in Lightroom, and explored the different methods to take images from Lightroom into Photoshop.

We also went through setting up ChronoSync for backing up your images (since Lightroom has no image backup method).

Adobe Lightroom - Advanced

We had a wonderful class at this beautiful location.  Everyone had plenty of room, and it was very easy to see this 65" monitor behind me.

Overview of Topics Covered:  - The develop module! - Using all of the develop tools. - Creating presets. - Importing with presets.  - Backing up your images.   - Backing up your LR database.

Multi Image Pano Workshop

This workshop was at the Lafayette Reservoir in late afternoon.

To recap when shooting a single row pano:

- Mount your Nodal Slide on to either your panning head, or your tripod head that has a panning head.

- Mount your camera and slide it  to the NPP (No Parallax Point) for that lens focal length.

- ALL camera exposure settings need to be on manual, including the white balance (DO NOT use auto white balance).

- Shoot in RAW if possible.

- Overlap each image by 30-50%

- other options are ND filters and polarizer filters as needed.

When using ND filters, use an app like NDTimer or LongTimePro to recalculate the shutter speed.  Since your aperture and ISO are fixed, only your shutter speed is the variable that needs to be adjusted.

Flowing Water Workshop

We had a great time at the Black Hawk Plaza in Danville.  We experimented with polarizing filters  and neutral density filters as well as combining them.  It was a wonderful learning and discovering time for all!
